Directions and Road Condition

  • Access Road: Gravel road
  • Closest Town: Cathcart
  • Directions to campsite: At the traffic lights in Stutterheim travel straight towards Cathcart on the N6 for about 25km’s. You will be turning left onto a gravel road. 1 km from the gravel road on the N6 there is a huge sign that says Thomas River Historic Village. From Cathcart you will travel straight on the N6 towards Stutterheim for about 24km’s. You will be turning right onto a gravel road. At the gravel road there is a sign that says Old Thomas River and Thomas River Historical Village as well as Granta. Travel on the gravel road for about 4km, at the fork you are at the village. The reception is in the long yellow building on the left hand side.

  • Articles: Country Life - a couple of months ago with the Tyelela Meander article. Go! Magazine - Nov. 2008
  • Comments: Caravan and tenting is available with electrified stands and a luxury ablution block, close to the swimming pool, restaurant & pub.
  • Additional Comments: Campsite in a conservancy
  • Special rules: Being the centre of a conservancy and with a restaurant/pub nearby we do not encourage loud music and drumming. We are a family destination.
